I still have a dozen seedling tomatoes….I had the same amount of eggplant but they finally succumbed to my wacky schedule and oft forgotten watering methods. My mom just gave me two 2cu ft bags of potting soil today. A good friend also sent some soil along today. SO I picked up a set of cheap pots from Walmart and I will be potting up the last of the seedlings and hoping they set fruit before frost.
Saw this posted and decided to bite the bullet and sign up. I already have two jars of stuff I can send but I figure I will feel the want to expand myself to make newer and more inventive products if I am trying to impress a random stranger.
Right now I am thinking either something blueberry or the strawberry using strawberry chocolate tea I have been thinking of doing for a fruit jam/jelly. And either pickled watermelon rind or Carla’s Bread&Butter pickles for a savory pickle.
Guess we’ll just have to see what else sticks out and inspires me before the mailing date.

I am a girl, I have a garden, and a serious frugal streak. Although I have less space to garden than ever I am striving to grow what I can, preserve what I need to and find other sources of produce (as much local and organic as my budget can sustain) to fill in the gaps and round out the pantry with pickles, jams and other goodies.
I hope to be able to share my struggles and triumphs with others so they can follow the recipes I share and be inspired to take their own steps towards making their own gardens and goodies.
